I will teach students in a positive and enthusiastic environment, providing a tailored curriculum based on each student’s goals and learning style. Students will establish and build upon fundamentals in music and horn playing, developing them into more confident players and people.

Students agree to arrive at each lesson punctually, well-prepared, and with their music, instrument, and a pencil. In order to make progress, quality practice is necessary daily.
Both the student and parent/guardian are encouraged to ask questions to comfortably understand home assignments and goals.
Students must have their own instrument to practice at home. If you have questions or would like input on the purchase of an instrument, please let me know. I am happy to set appointments to meet the student and their family for instrument trials, and to make specific recommendations.
Parents/Guardians: If circumstances at home or school are affecting your child, please make me aware to the extent you feel comfortable. The more information I have, the more I can be sensitive to the needs of your child.

Each student is responsible for purchasing the required music and materials for lessons.
Materials will be assigned by me, and the student will be expected to have the materials no later than two weeks after the materials have been assigned.
Advanced notice will be provided whenever possible, and budgets can be taken into consideration. Please bare in mind additional investments into materials will be necessary for instruction.

Please note that tuition reserves the weekly time slot for your student, but may not directly correlate with lessons received if the student does not attend the scheduled lesson times. A student’s spot will not be guaranteed for the fall term if they were not enrolled in lessons during the summer term.
Rowland Horn Studio utilizes a flat monthly tuition rate, which is based on the number of guaranteed lessons in the calendar year. There will be a minimum of 44 lessons offered throughout the year, and pre-planned absences and holiday breaks are factored into the rate and will be communicated well in advance.
Tuition invoices will be sent by the 23rd of the month prior for all enrolled students. All payments are non-refundable.
Tuition is paid monthly, and will be drawn on the 1st of each month from the method on file. After the first payment, invoicing and payment will run automatically. All automatic payments will be run through fons.
If a payment is returned or declined, a 48-hour window will be provided to adjust the payment method and re-submit payment. Invoices paid after the 3rd of the month will receive a $20 late fee. Recurring late payments may result in the termination of the student’s enrollment.
To cancel tuition, written notification must be received via email two weeks in advance (by the 9th of that month). In the case that notice is not received by that deadline, the full tuition amount will be run automatically on the 1st of the month, and students have the option to attend all paid lessons that month. Lessons will then be canceled for the following month. Tuition payments are non-refundable.

Lessons canceled with under 24 hour notice will not be eligible for a make-up lesson.
Lessons canceled with 24 hour notice will be credited as a make-up lesson for that month.
Make-up lessons do not count as credit for the next month’s tuition.
With notice, a maximum of two make-up lesson credits can be provided for the Fall and Spring terms, and one for Summer term (Fall term: September-December, Spring Term: January-May, Summer Term: July-August), subject to availability.
Make-up lessons must be used within 30 days of cancellation. Credits not used within 30 days will be forfeit.
Lessons canceled by me will be given as much notice as possible. Teacher cancellations outside of the guaranteed 44 annual lessons will be rescheduled within 30 days.
Tuition is based on the number of lessons the studio schedules and will not be altered. Planned vacations or other conflicts communicated in advance receive a make-up lesson credit for that month.
If the student or a family member is ill or not feeling well for any reason, the student should not attend their lesson in person. If the student is well enough, the lesson will be held during their normally scheduled time via Zoom. If the student is not well enough to attend their lesson virtually, at least 24 hour notice is required to guarantee a make-up lesson.

Email is my preferred method of communication, as texts may not be seen while teaching.
Studio operating hours are Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM. I choose to work flexibly and respond to emails as quickly as possible, however, please allow 48 hours for response to all communication during the week.
Communication outside of the studio operating hours may have a longer response time, and all weekend communication will be answered the following Monday. Advanced notices will be honored from the time communication is sent.

When students enroll, they are reserving their place in the studio for the entire term. Changes to weekly schedules may be made on a case-by-case basis each month before tuition is due.
If the student decides to pause lessons during the course of a semester, tuition for the remainder of the semester still applies. Alterations to this policy are on a case-by-case basis.
By enrolling and paying tuition in Rowland Horn Studio, I certify that I understand and agree to the studio policies for the 2024-2025 school year.
